Wine Day around Leesburg

Last weekend, we went to the Leesburg area to have a wine day. Lesley’s aunts and uncle from Richmond joined us. Our first stop was to one of our favorites, Zephaniah Farm Vineyward.

We’ll go into detail about Zephaniah on the next post so we’ll keep it brief here. They do seated tastings in the house. We were seated in the living room which includes a couple of dining tables and smaller seating areas to taste at. They taste  six wines - 2 whites, a rośe and 3 reds.
Everything was wonderful as always. While there, we joined their brand new wine club.

Afterwards, we were hungry so we drove over to Purcellville to Magnolias at the Mill. This is part of the Tuskies Restaurant Group around the Leesburg area. If you bring in a Virginia wine and the receipt showing a same day purchase to any of their restaurants, they will open it without a corkage fee.  Foolishly, we were so hungry, we forgot to take pictures of our meals! Everything was delicious though, and we recommend the Steak Frites.

Next stop was Hunters Run Winery. This place is full of Irish hospitality. It was very warm and cozy inside.

We tasted their list which included 3 whites, a sparking rośe, 2 reds and 2 mulled wines.  We really enjoyed a few of them (bottles came home with us).

Our last stop of the day was Casanel Vineyards and Winery.

Their tasting included 3 whites, 2 reds and a port-style wine. This was our second visit here - the last time was two years ago, and we managed to have the same person pour for us both times. It was kind of neat because he remembered us too!
All in all, it was a fun day running around Loudoun County. We’ll post more on each winery individually later.
